Dr. Beach says Siesta Beach in Sarasota,Florida is #1

I don’t know if any of you have ever heard of a guy by the name of Dr. Stephen Leatherman who’s better known as “Dr. Beach”.

He’s a professor and Director of the Laboratory for Coastal Research at Florida International University. He has a Ph.D. in Environmental (Coastal) Sciences  along with all of these other fancy titles and to make a long story short he makes it his business to see where the best beaches are located in America and in many other parts of the world. He even helps the super rich pick what private islands they should buy.

I use to be into this guy a little over a decade ago because I was previously the owner of a little vacation rental site named 4BeachNuts.com (well, not that little :) which we also provided all kinds of information about The Best Beaches in the World. He actually wrote to me a few times and I wonder if he remembers me?

Anyway,I was wondering what beach made his number #1 list this year for “The Best Beach In America”and turns out its Siesta Beach in Sarasota,Florida.

He says Siesta Beach has the finest powdery whitest sand in the “world”,nearly pure crystals.  The water and waves are usually safe for swimming and very clean and clear so I can only imagine it calls out to you.

Is it calling out to you?

If so,what would it be saying?

Sad But True

South Padre Island,in Texas  Located in the tip of the border next to the Gulf of Mexico and the Laguna Madre Bay in Texas,is a little tiny Island name “South Padre Island”.  How tiny?  It’s only ½ a mile wide and 34 miles long and does have three campgrounds on the island that are on the beach or bay.

A missionary priest back in 1804 Jose Nicholas Balli first settle here and later came the Spain’s King Charles IV who decided to claim it for his own. Ever since then people have made this little tiny place more then it really is.  Though,I would have to say that it’s actually the best beach Texas has to offer.  :(

Yet,every young blood goes to South Padre Island during Spring Break which if you’re over the “Let’s Party” scene, then I strongly suggest DO NOT go near South Padre,Island as its anything but peaceful and relaxing during spring break.  I was there a year ago during Spring Break and swore I would never go back.  Yet,here I go again, only should be better this time around since there won’t be any spring breakers, which btw –“breakers”is the perfect word for them.

So why even put South Padre Island on by blog when its dedicated to the best places to travel?   G-d only knows.  Perhaps because it’s close to home and I am planning to be there in a few weeks and looking forward to getting away and relaxing on the beach even though it’s not a fabulous beach. Sad,but true, though I do strongly believe that a bad day at the beach is much better then any day at work.

Fabulous Darling,Fabulous

Fabulous darling,just Fabulous.
Introducing one of the most luxurious Private Island in the world,
 beach.jpg
“Musha Cay”.This fantasy Island comes complete with what ever your heart desires including your own little  midget,if that’s the kind of thing your into.   lol  beach1.jpg
Island belongs to David Copperfield the guy that once made the Statue of Liberty disappear and as I am sure you have heard, he’s considered to be a master of illusion,so better keep your wallet at home as he did make appear a good $50 million dollars to purchase this dreamy private Island resort.

They claim the Island is filled with much magic and true phenomenons happen there, as he and his guest have suggested the ”Fountain of Youth “ is on this Island.
And who’s to say its not? It is in the Bahamas.
Home of the big “D’s Triangle”if you get my drift.
Interestingly enough when David Copperfield was interviewed about his “Fountain of Youth” he stated:I am really 82.
david2.jpgI discovered Musha Cay and the islands around it.
It is a bunch of islands in the Exumas, the southern Bahamas,It is probably the most beautiful place I have ever seen but I am not an astronaut or traveling around the world. They asked them from above what was the most beautiful spot the most beautiful water, and they all agreed this specific spot in the Atlantic Ocean, the southern Bahamas.
*I found it by connecting lines between magical places around the earth. There is Stonehenge in England,I drew a line from Stonehenge to the statues in Easter Island in Chile and another line between the Pyramid of Gaza in Egypt to the Pyramid of the sun in Mexico and those four lines intersect at a specific spot in the ocean and it so happens that is where my islands are”.
Note to self:  he said ‘My Islands”hummm

Well…. it’s either that or his buddy the plastic surgeon from Beverly Hills 902,who comes and goes to do a little touch ups from time to time on his guest.
 No charge of course :x

On the other hand, seriously now, from the look of these pictures I can surly understand why anyone who visits this amazing place can come back looking a few years younger just by taking in all its beauty. :)

If you bring up the name “Cooperfield”most people think of his former
girlfriend claudia_schiffer.jpgClaudia Schiffer,but I think of his
Death Saw illusion.

A few more pics to enjoy of this amazing private Island.

Amazing Cliff Side Rental in Las Brisas,in Acapulco,Mexico

So it’s about time that I blog about another amazing place in Mexico. This rental home is in Las Brisas,in
Acapulco.  Acapulco is still one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Las Brisas is a little side section of

Acapulco and very popular with honeymooners looking for a little private escape with a lot of
R&R.

This amazing vacation rental good-angle.jpg
is about 1 ½ miles from where they use to film all of the old Tarzan Movies,in a place called Coyuca Lagoon &Pie de la Cuesta.  In fact, that Lagoon is also, where they filmed “Rambo” with Sylvester Stallone.
rambo-small.jpg
Which by the way,my favorite part in that movie is where he falls threw the trees.
What a cool seen.

                               view-with-cliff.jpg
This home sits on a cliff and has seven bedrooms.  It is a great place to have a small wedding with friends,as the sunset is amazing and not to mention very romantic.  Then again,I guess staying up to watch a sunset with anyone special no matter where you are,can be amazing.  On the other hand,a place like this sure helps.
Sunset

Sunset up or Sunset down, either way a view like this is unforgettable.

What Beaches Not to go to.

Well here’s a place I think any beach lover in their right mind should try and avoid.

I don’t know about you,but the 1st thing that came to mind was…..
“I wonder where the toilets are”?

A day at the beach in China

This would be the only exception to that good ole saying ….

“The worst day at the beach,is better then the best day at work”.

Beaches and more

What about the beaches in the Caribbean?

caribbeanpics.jpg

365 Beaches,Antigua &Barbuda are known for having a beach for every day of the year. That sure would be cool,….no? Can you imagine? Let’s see, wonder what kind of a job that would be? Taking in a beach each day of the year and perhaps the job would be to take pictures of the scenery and the people with different personalities that come and visit here. That would be some job, huh? Mostly calm waters in the Caribbean which makes it great for all water sports expect of course surfing.

In a most exclusive area is Gallery Bay Beach

Galley Bay

This is an awesome place but if you’re wanting some spectacular night life and actions then this is not the place for you. Live shows aren’t a part of the schedule at the Galley Bay. However, adults who are looking for a romance where its just the two of you. Or adults wanting to get away from any kids, then this might just be the perfect location for you! ;)

What about the Beaches?

Starting with the ones in Los Cabos.San Lucas and the Los Cabos area along the Sea of Cortez and Pacific side do have powerful waves and do not always make for friendly swimming conditions, but they do create a dramatic beach landscape that’s a site worth seeing.
Just take a look......
sm cabo beaches

Cabo Beaches2

You can’t help but to be impressed by huge massive rock formations and caves. The clear aqua blue waters are very inviting. What people do most here is snorkeling,as there are a great deal of colorful tropical fish,as well as game fish.
Need an adventure? I would say this is a great place to start.

Loves Beach

Palmilla
The Palmilla headland defines the southwestern curve of San José Bay. Palmilla This is one of the prettiest and safest swimming beaches in the area. At Punta Palmilla,a protected cove makes Playa Palmilla an optimal beach for easy-going water sports. Snorkeling and swimming are favorite activities here, particularly for families, and the location’s dramatic rock formations attract shutterbugs. This beach has beautiful rock formations.

The beach is located near near the Palmilla Resort, one of Los Cabos' most elegant place to stay or to eat lunch or dinner. Currently the luxury Palmilla Resort is being redone by the owner's of Altantis and Sun City, and is scheduled to re-open in December of 2003.

When visiting the Beaches of San Jose del Cabo &the rest of Los Cabos remember:

1. There are no lifeguards here, not even at most hotel pools. So,try not to swim alone as no big lifeguard hunk wearing red Speedos is going to come to your rescue.

2. One won’t find a convenience store on every corner here,so bring lots of sun block, sunglasses, water, snacks, bathroom tissue, film as well as a beach umbrella, snorkeling gear, sand toys, etc.

3. Certain beaches have seas with severe undertows, dangerous breakers, rip tides,or deep drop-offs close to shore. Pay attention to any warning signs.

4. Remember that it’s illegal to drive on beaches in México. Environmental protectionism is growing in countries all over the world and one needs to be as sensitive here in México as in the USA. In either country,a fuel spill from one’s boat or 4x4 on most beaches can result in stiff fines.

5. Always remember that the beaches can be very dangerous even for the best of swimmers and never turn your back on the ocean. Be sure to check weather conditions,as safety changes with the weather. Typically there are no lifeguards at the beaches. If you like to swim, the pools at the hotels are the best bet for safety
